🚂 A Jason D's Vision Journey

The Panoramic Trains

Some trains are built around the window. This is a journey through Europe's great glass fleets — the panoramic expresses, the heritage observation cars, and the snow machines that keep the high lines open — every scene in motion, every train the real train.

Jonas and Maren ride this fleet the way they ride them all: window seat, no hurry.

Jonas, railway enthusiast and notebook keeper
Jonas

Jonas rides with the notebook. Viaducts get a full page, gradients get a number, and every summit station gets a star — the Oberalp, crossed beside its pass lake, still holds the record at four pages. He plans the journeys the way other people plan dinners: around the seat he most wants to sit in, which on any of these trains is the one wrapped in glass.

Maren, photographer, at the window with her camera
Maren

Maren rides with the camera, and the camera is always ready before the viaduct is. She shoots film — grain, patience and all — and swears the Landwasser looks better through a lens older than the tunnel. Her rule for the whole journey: if a scene is worth crossing a continent for, it is worth waiting for the light.

The Fleet Table

Every train the showcase holds, honestly tiered — and first, the three Grand Tour scenes that cross this fleet's path. Their scenes play in the Train Journey; here they stand as stills, with the door open.
